To be eligible for admission to the Ph.D. program at CGC University, Mohali candidates must meet any one of the following academic qualifications:

Written Entrance Test

Components: 30% – General Research Aptitude & Methodology
70% – Subject-Specific Content

Exemptions: Candidates with valid UGC-NET/JRF/CSIR-NET/GATE/CEED scores may be exempted from the written test (subject to approval).

Interview / Viva-Voce

Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed to assess:

Merit List & Offer of Admission

A combined merit score (Test + Interview) is used to prepare the final list.

Special Considerations

JRF/SRF Fellowship Benefits (UGC Norms)

All candidates who are awarded JRF or SRF by UGC/CSIR and enrolled full-time at CGC University, Mohali are entitled to full fellowship benefits as per UGC guidelines:

  • JRF: ₹37,000/month + HRA
  • SRF (after 2 years of JRF): ₹42,000/month + HRA
  • SRF (after 2 years of JRF): ₹42,000/month + HRA

CGC University, Mohali assists all eligible scholars in submitting fellowship joining reports and claiming benefits in a timely manner.

Teaching Assistantship & Research Incentive Policy – CGC University, Mohali

CGC University, Mohali offers structured financial and academic support to full-time Ph.D. scholars through a Teaching Assistantship (TA) scheme and Research Incentives for impactful scholarly contributions. These initiatives reflects commitment to building a high-performance research culture.

Teaching Assistantship (TA) – Monthly Support

  • Stipend: ₹25,000 per month
  • Duration: Up to 3 years (renewable annually based on RAC and Dean Research approval)
  • Load: 10–12 hours per week of academic duties

Responsibilities Include:

  • Conducting tutorials, lab sessions, and assisting in undergraduate/postgraduate teaching
  • Supporting preparation of academic content and assessments
  • Assisting in project evaluations and mentoring junior students
  • Contributing to department-level academic engagements

Teaching Assistantship offers financial support while developing critical teaching experience.

  • Prior approval may be required for conference participation
  • Claims must be submitted through the Office of the Dean Research with:
  • Full-text copy of the publication/paper
  • Proof of indexing (SCI/Scopus)
  • Proof of presentation (for conferences)
