
Reinforcing its commitment to academic excellence, innovation-driven learning, and institutional advancement, CGC University Mohali successfully convened its 2nd Academic Council Meeting, bringing together distinguished academicians, industry experts, senior administrators, and Academic Council members for comprehensive deliberations on the University’s future academic direction.
The proceedings commenced with the rendition of the National Song, setting the tone for a session dedicated to nation-building through quality education. Prof. (Dr.) Vinay Goyal, Vice Chancellor, welcomed the members and reiterated the University’s vision of becoming a globally recognized centre of excellence driven by research, innovation, entrepreneurship, ethical values, and learner-centric education. He emphasized the need for continuous academic transformation, stronger industry engagement, and future-focused pedagogies to prepare students for a rapidly evolving technological world.
The meeting served as a significant platform for strategic discussions on Academic Regulations, Examination Regulations, Ph.D. Regulations, curriculum frameworks, eligibility criteria, and academic governance mechanisms. The Council appreciated the University’s efforts to align its academic policies with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 while strengthening transparency, flexibility, fairness, and outcome-based education within academic and examination systems.
Members also reviewed the University’s growing initiatives in research, innovation, incubation, consultancy, industry collaboration, internships, experiential learning, and skill-development programmes. Discussions highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary research and stronger academia-industry partnerships to enhance employability and professional readiness among students.
Special emphasis was placed on future-ready programmes in emerging domains such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Cyber Security, Quantum Computing, Cloud Computing, Robotics, FinTech, Business Analytics, and Digital Transformation. The Council reviewed the strategic roadmap of the Newton School of AI & Computing and METAA School of Business, developed in collaboration with leading organizations including IBM, EY, and KPMG.
The Council appreciated the University’s sustained efforts towards holistic student development through sports, innovation, entrepreneurship, research, cultural engagement, experiential learning, and value-based education. Members also acknowledged significant institutional milestones, including inclusion under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, AISHE listing, membership of AIU, and approvals from PCI and BCI, reflecting the University’s growing academic stature and regulatory compliance.
Extensive discussions were also held on curriculum enhancement and recommendations received from various Boards of Studies, with emphasis on interdisciplinary, skill-oriented, and industry-relevant curricula aligned with global academic benchmarks and evolving workforce demands.
The successful conclusion of the 2nd Academic Council Meeting marked another significant milestone in the University’s journey toward academic distinction and institutional excellence. The session concluded with the National Anthem, followed by a vote of thanks delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Anupam Sharma - Pro VC (Examination) & Registrar, CGC University, Mohali. Hon’ble Chancellor Sardar Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal Ji congratulated and appreciated all members, experts, and stakeholders for the successful conduct of the meeting and for their continued contribution toward strengthening the University’s vision of developing globally competent and socially responsible future leaders.
