CGC University, Mohali, Leads the Way in Entrepreneurial Education with 5-Day MSME-Backed MDP

CGC University, Mohali, through its BBA and B.Com Departments under the School of Management Studies, successfully organized a five-day Management Development Programme (MDP) on “E-Marketing Strategies and Financial Management for Entrepreneurs”, in collaboration with the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME).

Designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of entrepreneurship, the programme focused on creating awareness about emerging business opportunities, government support mechanisms, and the practical intricacies involved in establishing and managing enterprises. Participants, including both internal and external attendees, were introduced to key government initiatives such as the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), Udyam Registration, and the MSME Samadhaan Portal. These schemes were explained with practical insights, enabling aspiring entrepreneurs to effectively leverage financial assistance, streamlined registration processes, and grievance redressal mechanisms.

Throughout the programme, participants engaged in in-depth sessions on contemporary digital marketing strategies, covering search engine optimization (SEO), social media marketing, website development, online marketplaces, and performance marketing tools supported by analytics and digital advertising frameworks. The curriculum further encompassed critical aspects of financial management, including funding strategies, stages of business financing, budgeting, financial discipline, risk mitigation, and cost optimization techniques.

Additionally, participants gained valuable exposure to core financial statements such as Profit & Loss Accounts, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flow Statements, alongside key concepts in entrepreneurship development, business planning, and digital platform selection for scalable growth.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation and was widely appreciated for its practical orientation and insightful delivery. It successfully bridged the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application, empowering students with the confidence, competence, and strategic mindset required to navigate entrepreneurial challenges.

The sessions were conducted by distinguished experts including Shri Kundan Lal (Assistant Director, MSME), Mr. Deepak Chechi (Assistant Director, MSME), Dr. Uma Jaidev (Dean – Management), Dr. Vidhu Gupta (Associate Dean, BBA), Ms. Anjali (HoD, Commerce), among others. The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Vidhu Gupta. All participants were awarded certificates jointly by MSME and CGC University, Mohali, in recognition of their active engagement.
