Job Summary The Head of the Department (BBA) is responsible for providing academic leadership and strategic direction to the department. The HOD ensures excellence in teaching, research, student development, curriculum implementation, accreditation compliance, industry collaboration, and faculty development while aligning departmental objectives with the University's vision and regulatory requirements.

Job Description

Academic Leadership

  • Lead and manage all academic activities of the BBA department.

  • Ensure effective implementation of Outcome-Based Education (OBE), NEP 2020, and Choice Based Credit System (CBCS)/credit-based curriculum.

  • Monitor curriculum delivery, lesson plans, course files, and academic quality.

  • Develop innovative teaching-learning methodologies and experiential learning practices.

  • Prepare and review academic calendars, timetables, and workload distribution.

Faculty Management

  • Mentor, supervise, and evaluate faculty members.

  • Identify faculty development needs and encourage participation in FDPs, workshops, and certification programs.

  • Conduct regular departmental meetings and performance reviews.

  • Assist in faculty recruitment, induction, probation review, and appraisal.

Curriculum Development

  • Review and update curriculum in consultation with industry experts and academic bodies.

  • Introduce value-added courses, skill enhancement programs, certifications, and multidisciplinary electives.

  • Promote case-based learning, simulations, live projects, and business analytics tools.

Student Development

  • Monitor academic performance, attendance, mentoring, and progression.

  • Promote internships, industrial training, entrepreneurship, innovation, and placements.

  • Encourage participation in competitions, management fests, research conferences, and community engagement activities.

  • Address student grievances and ensure a positive learning environment.

Research & Innovation

  • Promote high-quality research publications in Scopus, Web of Science, and ABDC-indexed journals.

  • Encourage consultancy, funded research projects, patents, and case study development.

  • Facilitate interdisciplinary research and collaborations with industry and academic institutions.

Accreditation & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure compliance with UGC, AICTE (where applicable), NAAC, NBA, and other regulatory requirements.

  • Prepare departmental documentation for accreditation, ranking, and quality audits.

  • Maintain CO-PO attainment, assessment records, academic audit documentation, and quality benchmarks.

Industry Connect

  • Build partnerships with industries, professional bodies, and corporate organizations.

  • Facilitate guest lectures, industrial visits, internships, live projects, and placement activities.

  • Strengthen alumni engagement and corporate networking.

Administration

  • Manage departmental budget, infrastructure, laboratories (if applicable), and learning resources.

  • Ensure timely submission of reports and departmental data.

  • Coordinate with Examination, Admissions, Training & Placement, IQAC, and other university departments.

  • Ensure smooth conduct of examinations and evaluation processes.

Strategic Planning

  • Develop departmental annual plans, key performance indicators (KPIs), and growth strategies.

  • Enhance student enrolment, retention, placements, research output, and institutional reputation.

  • Identify opportunities for new academic programs and industry-oriented initiatives.

 

Qualification Criteria:

Qualification

  • Ph.D. in Management/Business Administration or a relevant discipline from a recognized university.

  • First Class in MBA/PGDM or equivalent qualification.

  • Qualifications as per UGC and University norms.
