Advancing its commitment to industry-integrated and future-ready education, CGC University, Mohali has entered into a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with MongoDB to establish the MongoDB Centre for Data & AI Excellence. The initiative aims to build an industry-driven learning ecosystem that equips Engineering and Computer Applications students with practical expertise in modern database technologies, Artificial Intelligence, and next-generation data solutions.
The MoU signing ceremony marked the commencement of this significant industry-academia collaboration, bringing together representatives from CGC University, Mohali and MongoDB with a shared vision of preparing students for emerging careers in Data Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Technologies and Modern Application Development.
The newly established Centre will bridge the gap between classroom learning and evolving industry requirements through structured learning pathways, technical workshops, expert mentorship, industry-recognised certifications and hands-on innovation experiences. It will provide students with opportunities to engage with contemporary technologies and develop the technical proficiency and problem-solving capabilities required in a rapidly transforming digital ecosystem.
Speaking about the collaboration, Dr. Sushil Prashar, Executive Vice President, CGC University, Mohali, said that the establishment of the Centre reflects the University's endeavour to create learning environments that extend beyond conventional classroom instruction. He emphasised that the collaboration with MongoDB will give students meaningful exposure to globally relevant technologies and enable them to translate theoretical knowledge into practical applications, while developing skills aligned with the evolving demands of the technology industry.
The MongoDB Centre for Data & AI Excellence will focus on emerging areas at the intersection of data and Artificial Intelligence, including MongoDB Fundamentals, AI Data Strategy, Vector Search, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), AI Agents with MongoDB, Modern Database Design and AI-powered Application Development. Students will also gain exposure to contemporary industry practices in data management and intelligent application development.
A key highlight of the Centre will be its emphasis on experiential and application-oriented learning. Through practical engagements with modern tools, technologies and industry-aligned resources, students will explore how data can be effectively managed, analysed and leveraged to develop intelligent solutions for real-world challenges.
