The Great NavBharat Mission Foundation, Hosts ‘Ujjwal Punjab’ Initiative, Reinforcing Collective Resolve Against Drug Abuse

In a significant step towards fostering a drug-free and progressive society, the Great NavBharat Mission Foundation successfully organised an impactful awareness and recognition event titled “Ujjwal Punjab: Nashe Nu Naa, Tarakki Nu Haan” at CGC University, Mohali. The initiative was led by Father of Education, Honourable Chancellor, S. Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, whose steadfast commitment continues to inspire transformative social change.

Conceived as a platform to address the pressing issue of substance abuse, the event brought together distinguished personalities from the judiciary, defence services, law enforcement, and civil society. Their collective presence underscored the urgency of unified action in combating drug addiction and promoting a culture rooted in awareness, responsibility, and resilience.

The esteemed dignitaries included Former Judge Imanbir Singh Dhaliwal, Brigadier Raj Kumar (Former Deputy Director General, Military Intelligence), Brigadier HPS Bedi, VSM, Retired Colonel Shri Mohan Lal Bhandari,  Shri Lakhvir Singh Rana (Inspector- Vigilance), Mr. Gurmukh Singh (SHO- Morinda), Mr. Khushwant Singh (Author & Co-Founder, Mothers Against Drugs Campaign), Ms. Honey Grewal (Psychologist & Mental Health Coach), and Mr. Ishupal Chaudhary (Social Activist). Through their insightful addresses, they emphasised the multidimensional impact of drug abuse and the pivotal role of awareness, early intervention, and community participation.

A defining highlight of the programme was the award ceremony, where police officials, members of the judiciary, ex-servicemen, and social activists were felicitated for their exemplary contributions towards eradicating drug abuse and spreading awareness. This was followed by a powerful pledge led by S. Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, which resonated deeply with the audience, particularly the youth, reinforcing a shared commitment to a drug-free future.

The event further featured impactful speeches, visual presentations, and meaningful interactions, all echoing the central message, “Say No to Drugs, Say Yes to Progress.” A spirited Drug Awareness Rally amplified this message beyond the venue, engaging students as active participants in the movement towards societal reform.

With the enthusiastic participation of over 500 students, the initiative successfully heightened awareness about the adverse effects of substance abuse while encouraging young minds to channel their energies towards personal growth, career aspirations, and nation-building.

“Ujjwal Punjab” stands as a compelling testament to the power of collective action, uniting institutions, authorities, and youth in pursuit of a healthier, safer, and more progressive Punjab.
