
The Department of Journalism and Multimedia at CGC University, Mohali, successfully hosted Media Conclave 2026, centred around the compelling theme, “Technology, Media and the Age of AI: Challenges, Opportunities and the Future of Careers.” The conclave emerged as a dynamic platform, bringing together distinguished media professionals and aspiring journalists for an engaging exchange of ideas on the rapidly transforming media ecosystem.
The event was graced by Aman Chopra, Senior Editor and Prime-Time News Anchor at News18 India, who delivered a thought-provoking keynote address. He highlighted the profound impact of artificial intelligence and digital transformation on journalism, while underscoring the enduring importance of credibility, accuracy, and ethical responsibility as the cornerstones of the profession.
The conclave also featured an illustrious panel of media stalwarts, including Vipin Gaur (International President, International Council for Journalists & General Secretary, Newspapers Association of India), Anjali Kumria (GM–Branch Head, The Times of India), Poornima Mishra (Associate Editor & Senior News Anchor, Bharat24), Aman Bhanot (Senior Character Animator & VFX Specialist), Pooja Verma (Reporter, Daily Post News), Anjali Yadav (Assistant Producer & News Anchor, Dainik Jagran), and Ilfan Khan (Cinematographer).
During the insightful panel discussion, Vipin Gaur emphasized the indispensable role of ethical journalism in sustaining public trust in an era dominated by digital information. Anjali Kumria offered valuable perspectives on the evolving landscape of print and digital media, encouraging students to continuously upskill and adapt to industry demands. Poornima Mishra shed light on the influence of television journalism in shaping public discourse, highlighting the need for strong editorial acumen and newsroom discipline.
Adding further depth to the discussion, Aman Bhanot elaborated on the expanding horizons of animation, VFX, and digital storytelling in contemporary media. Pooja Verma inspired students to remain inquisitive, resilient, and committed to grassroots reporting. Anjali Yadav shared her professional experiences, stressing adaptability and effective communication as essential traits for emerging journalists, while Ilfan Khan emphasized the power of visual storytelling in enhancing narrative impact.
The session was skillfully moderated by RJ Megha, Radio Jockey at Red FM India, who ensured a vibrant and interactive dialogue between the panelists and the audience.
