
Reaffirming its commitment to nurturing informed, responsible, and articulate future leaders, CGC University, Mohali, through its School of Legal Studies, successfully organised the CGCU 1st Nationwide Youth Parliament 2026. The prestigious event served as a vibrant national platform where young minds converged to deliberate upon pressing socio-political issues while gaining practical exposure to parliamentary functioning and democratic discourse.
Designed to familiarise students with legislative procedures, parliamentary ethics, and the dynamics of democratic institutions, the Youth Parliament witnessed an overwhelming nationwide response, receiving 118 registrations from various parts of the country. The event also featured an attractive prize pool of ₹30,000, further enhancing its competitive spirit and national significance.
CGC University, Mohali, widely recognised for its legacy of academic distinction and progressive learning environment, continues to champion experiential and participatory education. The School of Legal Studies, has consistently played a pivotal role in fostering legal awareness, leadership capabilities, and civic consciousness among students, equipping them to become responsible contributors to society.
The programme was honoured by the esteemed presence of Chief Guest Mr. Avinash Rai, Former Member of Parliament, who applauded the initiative and described the Youth Parliament as a remarkable opportunity for students to gain firsthand insight into the nuances of parliamentary functioning. The event was further enriched by the presence of distinguished guests Mr. Nagendra Singh Parmar, renowned social activist and media panelist, and Mr. Tarun Jha, Senior Television Journalist, MH One News, who shared valuable perspectives on governance, media accountability, and public participation in democracy.
The event was conducted under the distinguished guidance of Chairman of the Event, Prof. (Dr.) J.P. Yadav, Director, School of Legal Studies, whose academic leadership and vision played an instrumental role in shaping the initiative. The seamless execution of the programme was ensured through the dedicated efforts of the Event Coordinators, Dr. Divya and Mr. Bineet, whose meticulous planning and organisational expertise significantly contributed to the success of the nationwide event.
The Youth Parliament unfolded across three intensive sessions, closely simulating authentic parliamentary proceedings, including the Opening of the House, Question Hour, Zero Hour, Open Debate, and Final Call for Solutions. The sessions witnessed passionate participation, intellectual exchange, and well-researched deliberations by the delegates, reflecting their awareness of contemporary national concerns. The proceedings were meticulously evaluated by esteemed judges, who commended the participants for their articulation, analytical approach, and parliamentary conduct.
The event concluded on a celebratory note with the prize distribution ceremony, followed by the unveiling of LEX FIESTA, further strengthening the university’s vision of encouraging youth participation in democratic governance and legal scholarship.
Through initiatives such as the Nationwide Youth Parliament, CGC University, Mohali continues to cultivate socially conscious, intellectually driven, and ethically grounded future leaders, reaffirming its role as a catalyst for transformative education and nation-building.
