CGC UNIVERSITY, MOHALI HOSTS THE 3RD CLC NATIONWIDE MOOT COURT COMPETITION 2025 CGC University, Mohali, an institution renowned for its academic distinction and over 25 years of excellence in higher education, successfully hosted the 3rd Nationwide Moot Court Competition 2025, organized under the aegis of the Moot Court Society, Chandigarh Law College (CLC) under the guidance of Prof (Dr) JP Yadav, Director, CLC. The two-day academic event witnessed the participation of 50 premier law schools from across India, representing diverse regions such as Punjab, Haryana, Delhi-NCR, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, and Karnataka. Among the distinguished participants were Aligarh Muslim University, Jamia Millia Islamia, Christ University Bangalore, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (New Delhi), Army Institute of Law (Mohali), Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (Patiala), Panjab University, UPES Dehradun, and Amity University, reflecting the competition’s nationwide prominence. The event was inaugurated by Ms. Surabhi Prashar (CJM cum Secretary DLSA, SAS Nagar). The competition brought together some of the finest young legal minds, who argued on the moot proposition Prakash Chandra & Others v. State of Zania, engaging deeply with themes of constitutional law, criminal procedure, and fundamental rights through multiple rounds of intense argumentation and rebuttal. The Grand Finale was adjudicated by Mr. Niraj Kumar (ILS), Joint Secretary, Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India, and Mr. Puran Singh Hundal, Senior Advocate, Punjab & Haryana High Court, who commended the participants for their clarity, eloquence, and analytical prowess. The Valedictory Ceremony was graced by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Vikram Aggarwal, Judge, Punjab & Haryana High Court, as the Chief Guest, alongside S. Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, Founder Chancellor, CGC University, Mohali, whose inspiring words emphasized the significance of mooting in cultivating intellectual rigor, ethics, and leadership among aspiring lawyers. A key highlight of the event was the unveiling of the first edition of Chandigarh Law Review, the official law journal of CLC, featuring 15 scholarly papers, marking a proud academic milestone for the institution. In a display of exceptional advocacy and research skills, Amity University, Mohali emerged as the Winner, while Christ University, Bangalore was declared Runner-Up. Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi received the Best Mooter award, Army Institute of Law, Mohali bagged Best Memorial, and University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS), Panjab University, Chandigarh, was recognized as Best Researcher. The winners were felicitated with trophies, certificates, and cash prizes, ?51,000 for the Winning Team, ?21,000 for the Runners-Up, and ?5,100 each for the Best Speaker, Best Memorial, and Best Researcher categories. Supported by reputed national media partners including SCC Online, SCC Times and Jus Corpus, the competition garnered widespread appreciation from the legal education fraternity across India. The event concluded with resounding applause, celebrating not only the triumph of intellect and advocacy but also reaffirming CGC University, Mohali’s commitment to academic excellence, experiential learning, and the advancement of justice and legal scholarship.
